Make sure the floor is ready

Use drum sander and grit paper
Use the drum sander for the floor sanding. It is possible that the sandpaper could be tight, which would make the installation difficult. It would be wise to start with 40-grit paper especially if the floor is such that it would require a lot of sanding. It would be wise to use the grit size according to the condition of the floor.
Create an even finish
Use the drum sander wisely in order to create an even finish on the floor. Using the drum sander in the forward direction where the grains are in line with the floorboards. Make sure that this particular step is one row at a time. Overall pace should be gradual as achieving an even finish is very important.
Use an edging sander
As the name suggests the edging sander would assist in reaching the edges. This is usually the place, which is difficult to reach with the drum sander; however, with the help of the edging sander, it would be easier to use the toughest areas as well. However, it is important to use a fine grit for the edging sander and one should not forget this point.
Use a detail sander
As the name suggests, a detail sander would be able to reach the areas, which even the edging sander cannot reach.
